The Taipei City Government conducted its Disaster Prevention and Rescue Drill today at the Riverside Park of Hushan 21, with a live military exercise taking place. The Taipei Disaster Relief Team Taiwan Red Cross also mobilized 16 disaster relief volunteers to participate.

This year's drill scenario assumed a magnitude 6.6 earthquake along the southern section of the Shanxi Fault. Taipei City experienced an intensity of 5 strong to 6 weak across its five administrative districts, with Shilin and Beitou districts suffering the most severe damage. In response, the Taipei City Government immediately established a disaster response center and set up a wide-area disaster relief support base, facilitating the smooth deployment of central government, municipal, and foreign search and rescue teams to assist in Taipei's disaster relief efforts.

This year's disaster prevention and rescue drill adopted a "scriptless" approach, with participants unaware of the exercise details in advance. Through methods such as wireless communication, telephone calls, and simulated casualties, emergency situations were directly communicated to frontline participants on-site. This allowed participants to report on the disaster situation, formulate rescue strategies, and execute response operations in real-time, thereby verifying the integrity and feasibility of various disaster response mechanisms and operational procedures in Taipei City and the participants' familiarity with operational regulations and rescue procedures.

Red Cross disaster relief volunteers assist in government rescue missions, striving to execute rescue operations as quickly as possible to minimize the impact of disasters and safeguard the lives and property of the local residents.
