Beginning in 2002, the Taiwan Red Cross (TRC) began to actively participate in international Red Cross relief operations. We have taken part in large-scale disaster relief projects in Iran, South Asia, Myanmar, Haiti and Japan, all the while actively establishing contact and maintaining good relations with Red Cross societies worldwide.
TRC has and will always uphold the humanitarian spirit and keep watch over the safety of the public. We will continue to spread the love of the Taiwanese people to all corners of the globe, help to relieve various crises by dirrerent means, and provide humanitarian assistance where needed.

Taiwan Red Cross provided monetary donation for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to support the refugee camps established for the humanitarian crisis in Lake Chad Basin.


Taiwan Red Cross supported the construction of the public housing units community in Ogakuchi, Otsuchi, Iwate Prefecture, Japan.  The area was heavily hit and devastated by the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami.

76 April 2020 Elazig earthquake, Turkey A 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck Elazig province in Turkey on 24th January.

TRC provided monetary donation of NTD 237,162 for the Turkish Red Crescent Society to reconstruct schools in local communities.
75 April 2020 Typhoon Hagibis, Japan TRC donated NTD 30,600 for the Japanese Red Cross Society to carry out disaster recovery works.
74 April 2020 COVID-19 pandemic relief:  Italy TRC donated EUR 10,000 for the Italian Red Cross to offer medical aid for the coronavirus outbreak.
73 February 2020 Australia bushfires TRC donated AUD 167,300 for the Australian Red Cross to provide relief and recovery works for communities affected by the bushfires.
72 December 2019 Rohingya refugee crisis TRC donated CHF 5,400 to the IFRC to support humanitarian aid for Rohingya refugees.
71 December 2019 Albania earthquake A 6.4-magnitude earthquake hit northwestern Albania on 26th November, which was the strongest earthquake to struck Albania over the past 40 years.

TRC provided monetary donation in the amount of CHF 7,500 for the IFRC to offer disaster relief.
70 October 2019 Typhoon Hagibis, Japan TRC contributed JPY 1 million to the Japanese Red Cross Society on 18th October to support the emergency aid and relief work of typhoon Hagibis.
69 May 2019 Sri Lanka Easter bombings On 21st April, churches that were holding Easter service and luxury hotels in Colombo, Sri Lanka were targeted in a series of coordinated bombings, which was the worst terrorist attack since the September 11 attacks in the United States.

TRC donated USD 10,000 to Sri Lanka Red Cross Society on 20th May, supporting the country’s recovery programs, including long-term psychosocial support, livelihood, and education.
68 April 2019 Lake Chad Basin humanitarian crisis, Africa Four African countries of Nigeria, Niger, Chand, and Cameroon’s government armed forces clashed with West Africa Islamic armed groups, displacing tens of thousands of families with millions sheltered in refugee camps.

TRC donated NTD 1 million to the ICRC on 25th April, supporting the humanitarian relief works in Lake Chad Basin, Nigeria, Niger, and Cameroon.
67 March 2019 Sulawesi earthquake, Indonesia On 31st March, TRC made a donation of CHF 136,500 to the IFRC to support the disaster relief and recovery operations in the area of livelihood, medical care, water and sanitation, psychosocial support, shelter, disaster preparedness, skills training, and other basic needs.
66 September 2018 Sulawesi earthquake, Indonesia On 28th September, a strong earthake measuring 7.5 ont eh Richter scale struck the island of Sulawesi and triggered a tsunami.  Over 2,200 people were killed and 10,000 injured, with more than 5,000 left missing.

TRC promptly issued a condolence letter to the Indonesian Red Cross Society and immediately provided details on the current inventory of relief supplies within our Disaster Preparedness Centers to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  Within 24 hours, we had completed the packaging and delivery of 2,000 sleeping pads, 2,000 light blankets, 300 tents, and various daily necessities to the Hsinchu Air Base.  However, the disaster relief operation was stopped in its tracks due to unsuccessful coordination between the Taiwanese and Indonesian governments.
65 September 2018 Typhoon Jebi & Hokkaido earthquake, Japan Typhoon Jebi struck the Kansai and Hokkaido regions on 4th September.  Almost immediately, this disaster was followed by a 6.7-magnitude earthquake occurring in Iburi Sub-prefecture, Hokkaido on 6th September, which cut the power to 2.95 million households and paralyzed land and air traffics for a duration of time.

TRC offered condolences and provided monetary donation of JPY 3.5 million for the Japanese Red Cross Society to carry out disaster relief and recovery operations.
64 July 2018 Japan floods TRC donated JPY 3.5 million to the Japanese Red Cross Society to offer assistance to southwestern Japan that was severely impacted by the catastrophic flooding and mudflows. 
63 February 2018 Syria refugee crisis TRC made a donation of CHF 30,000 to support the IFRC in providing livelihood support, skills training, community support, and other humanitarian services to the displaced Syrian population within Turkey.
62 August 2017 Hurricane Harvey, USA Texas, USA was devastated by Hurricane Harvey in August, causing catastrophic flooding and affected at least 6.8 million people.

TRC provided monetary donation of USD 10,000 for the American Red Cross to provide disaster relief to impacted communities.
61 August 2017 Sierra Leone mudslides In August, heavy rainfalls triggered mudflow events in and around the capital city of Freetown in Sierra Leone, affecting at least 1,900 households. 

TRC provided monetary donation of CHF 10,000 for the IFRC to carry out humanitarian relief works.
60 August 2017 Jiuzhaigou earthquake, China On 17th August, a 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck Jiuzhaigou, Aba Prefecture, Sichuan Province.  Over 70,000 houses were damaged or had collapsed, and more than 170,000 were affected by the quake, with reports of damage stretching across 64 townships.

TRC issued a condolence letter as well as donated RMB 200,000 to provide humanitarian assistance to disadvantaged families in the affected areas.
59 July 2017 Kyushu floods, Japan Typhoon Nanmadol brought torrential rains to Kyushu, Japan, triggering severe flooding and landslides.

TRC provided monetary donation of USD 10,000 for the Japanese Red Cross Society to support their disaster relief works.
58 May 2017 Rohingya refugee crisis The Rohingya refugee crisis occurred in 2017.  At the end of August, Rohingya Muslims fled their homes in Rakhine State to cross the border into Bangladesh; hundreds of thousands of people were displaced and were in need of humanitarian aid.

TRC was the first to donate CHF 10,000 in May for the IFRC to provide relief works, including provide care for refugees’ health, drinking water, food security, emergency shelter, restoring family link, and etc.  A second donation of CHF 13,600 was made to the IFRC in November.
57 April 2017 Hunger and famine, Africa TRC provided monetary donation of USD 30,000 for the ICRC to help those most affected by the hunger and famine crises in Yemen, South Sudan, Somalia, and Nigeria.
56 April 2017 Manila great fire,
the Philippines
On 7th February, a great fire broke out in Parola Compound in Tondo, Manila, affecting around 15,000 people and destroying homes to 3,000 families.

TRC provided monetary donation of NTD 300,000 and worked with the Chinese Evangelical Covenant Church to carry out disaster relief operations, including the purchase of housing reconstruction materials, basic furniture, hygiene products, food parcels, and drinking water. 
55 November 2016 Syria refugee crisis The Syrian humanitarian crisis has continued into its 6th year.

TRC provided monetary donation of USD 85,000 for the IFRC to support a Syrian refugee community center in Turkey, which provided refugees with protection, psychosocial support, educational services, vocational training, and strengthen community ties.
54 August 2016 Central and southern China floods Heavy rainfalls led to severe flooding events in six provinces of Hubei, Hebei, Anhui, Guizhou, Hunan, and Jiangxi.

TRC donated RMB 1 million to assist in the procurement of food as well as provide disaster relief to the affected population.
53 April 2016 Kumamoto earthquake, Japan Two powerful earthquakes of magnitude 6.4 and 7.3 hit Kumamoto area in the evening of 14th April and the early morning of 16th April, respectively.  Roads were damaged and several houses have collapsed with people trapped in debris.

TRC received monetary donation in the amount of NTD 969,717 (around JPY 313,439) and provided to the Japanese Red Cross Society for disaster relief works.
52 April 2016 Ecuador earthquake A 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Ecuador’s northwest coastal region on the evening of 16th April.  Roads, bridges, buildings, schools and healthcare infrastructures were damaged leading to communications and logistics challenges in several areas.

TRC received monetary donation in the amount of NTD 311,090 and provided monetary donation of USD 10,000 for the IFRC to support disaster relief works, including reconstruction of local communities, improvement of disaster preparedness and respond systems, and etc.
51 March 2016 Mongolia winter dzud Extreme winter conditions killed millions of animals since last December, threatening Mongolian nomadic herders’ livelihoods. 

TRC provided monetary of USD 20,000 for Mongolian Red Cross Society to prepare food parcels for the needy.
50 July 2015 Myanmar floods Severe flooding struck Myanmar in the middle of July and lasted for 2 months.

TRC provided monetary donation of USD 20,000 for the Myanmar Red Cross Society to support disaster relief works in 5 townships located in Yangon Region, Magway Region, and Ayeyarwady Region.
49 April 2015 Nepal earthquake A magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck Nepal on 25th April.  Over 8,700 people lost their lives, and more than 18,000 people injured.  Residential housings, schools and public infrastructures were destroyed or severely damaged. 

Disaster relief supplies such as tents, blankets, sleeping bags, bottled water, tarpaulins, food parcels, hygiene items, etc. were delivered along with monetary contributions.  A 2-year post-disaster recovery and reconstruction project was designed in collaboration with the IFRC to assist in the residential housing reconstruction program.
48 January 2015 Syria refugee crisis Fundraising for Syrian refugees impacted by the armed conflict since 2011. 

Delivery of 9,230 boxes of food parcel for refugees in Syria and 500 diesel stoves for Syrian refugees in Lebanon.  Monetary support for Red Cross Red Crescent hospital in Camp Azraq in Jordan.  Monetary support for 200 refugee households in Jordan to cover their rental costs and medical expenses.
47 August 2014 Yunnan earthquake, China A 6.5-magnitude earthquake struck Ludian County, Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province on 3rd August, affecting hundreds of thousands of people.

TRC made a monetary donation of RMB 500,000 to support disaster relief and recovery works.
46 August 2014 Kunshan explosion, China A dust explosion occurred at Zhongrong Metal Production Company owned by a Taiwnaese businessman, resulting in 146 death and 114 injured.

A donation of RMB 300,000 was made toward disaster relief.
45 November 2013 Philippine Haiyan (Yolanda) typhoon Typhoon Haiyan struck the Philippines in the early morning of 8th November 2013.  Around 4.1 million people were forced to leave their homes, 1.14 million houses were damaged or destroyed, and more than 16 million people were affected by the disaster, either through the loss of family, belongings, or livelihoods.

In-kind donations and monetary contributions were provided.  In addition to providing assistance during the emergency phase and contributing to the IFRC Emergency Appeal, we have joined forces with the IFRC and the Philippines Red Cross to formulate a housing reconstruction plan to construct 250 permanent housing units in Daanbantayan, Cebu.
44 June 2013 India flash flood A cloudburst centered on the northern region of India led to severe flash flood on 16th June.  More than 78,000 people were affected by the disaster. 

Monetary contribution of USD 30,000 to support the IFRC relief operation in northern India.
43 May 2013 Northern Sri Lanka post-conflict recovery project Fundraising for refugees affected by the armed conflict in northern Sri Lanka.  Supporting the IFRC and Sri Lanka Red Cross Society in building 50 residential housings in Mullaitivu, providing livelihood assistance and establishing the clean water supply system.
42 April 2013 Ya’an earthquake, China On 20th April, an earthquake of magnitude 7 struck Ya’an City, Sichuan Province, resulting in nearly 200 deaths, more than 10,000 injured, and 1.5 million affected.  In hard-hit Longmen Town, 99% of all houses collapsed.

TRC contributed RMB 1 million during the emergency relief stage to purchase medical equipment, set up portable toilets, and dispatch assessment teams to investigate the extent of devastation.  A total of 4,527 blankets and 500 tents were distributed to Tianchuan Village, Ya’an City.
41 December 2012 Philippines Bopha (Pablo) typhoon In-kind donations and monetary contribution to the IFRC Emergency Appeal.
40 December 2011 Philippines typhoon Mindanao, Philippines was severely hit by Typhoon Vasile.

A USD 50,000 emergency relief donation was given to the Philippine National Red Cross. Following the IFRC appeal, 3,000 sets of sleeping bags, sleeping mats, wool blankets, jackets and 1,000 sets of daily necessities were donated to the Philippine National Red Cross in January 2012.

From 7th – 10th February 2012, Secretary-General Wu flew to the Philippines to participate in the donation event and visited disaster areas.
39 October 2011 Turkey earthquake On 23rd October, a 7.3-magnitude earthquake struck Turkey.  A passive fundraiser at our Society raised a total of USD 1,100.  Through the IFRC, Taiwanese civilian donations were remitted to Turkey for disaster relief.  Through this practice, a cooperation model was established with the International Red Cross Organization.
38 August 2011 Thailand floods Between the months of June and August, severe flooding occurred in Thailand.  IFRC released an urgent appeal via the internet for disaster relief goods donations.

In December, a donation of 5,000 water containers and 500 tents was made to Kuala Lumpur's Asia Disaster Preparedness Centre.
37 July 2011 East Africa drought In July, the Horn of Africa suffered a severe drought, with tens of millions in need of food and drinking water.  IFRC launched an urgent appeal to each country.

After contacting the IFRC and conducting further assessment, a donation of USD 200,000 was made to the IFRC and ICRC for the purpose of offering assistance to the International Federation and Kenya Red Cross to assist in purchasing grain-based food.

Supported the ICRC within Somalia for the implementation of international humanitarian relief operations, providing the public with food, health care, health and disease treatment and other needs.

Initiated fundraising which raised USD 715,000, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs provided USD 100,000 to jointly provide disaster assistance for children and people in East Africa.
36 March 2011 311 Japan earthquake On 11th March, a major earthquake struck Eastern Japan and caused a tsunami, resulting in major casualties in Miyagi, Iwate and Fukushima Prefectures.

On 21st March, attended the International Federation's Asia-Pacific Conference Call for Japanese disaster relief to better understand the situation and to update our association's latest progress.  After the Call, we collaborated with the Japanese Red Cross to launch the "Believe in Hope: Fight & Smile" Japan Relief Television Fundraising Gala.

Donated USD 20 million (equivalent to NTD 580.05 million) to the Japanese Red Cross for post-disaster emergency relief purposes.

After 6 negotiations with Japanese officials, we finalized our decision to focus on the hardest-hit Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima Prefectures, investing in public and senior housing, nursery schools, after-school tutoring centers, hospitals, public welfare centers and six other redevelopment projects, with an estimated project budget of about NTD 1.750 billion, from which more than 75,000 would benefit.  President Chen Chang-Wen led a delegation from 26th February – 3rd March to disaster areas in Japan, offering relief and care.
35 August 2010 Gansu landslides, China On 8th August, Gannan Prefecture’s Zhouqu County in the Gansu Province suffered a catastrophic landslide, affecting 26,470 people, killing 1,489 and leaving 276 missing.

USD 100,000 was donated in emergency relief funding, followed by NTD 19,114,053 used to construct the Zhouqu County Hospital Outpatient Complex, increase disaster relief preparedness and promotion, purchase emergency relief supplies and print promotional material.
34 July 2010 Pakistan floods Beginning on 22nd July 2010, continuous heavy rains hit northwestern Pakistan, causing the worst flooding in 80 years.

Fundraising events were launched on 16th August, raising NTD 16,059,216. In collaboration with the International Federation and Pakistan Red Crescent Society, we began providing logistical support for water supply sanitation and community disaster relief efforts; these efforts are ongoing and have been highly effective.
33 April 2010 Qinghai earthquake, China On 14th April, Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture’s Yushu County in Qinghai Province was hit by a 7.1-magnitude earthquake, affecting an estimated 200,000 people.  

USD 100,000 was donated and 20 medical personnel were deployed to Xining City and Golmud City of Qinghai Province to provide rescue relief.  Medical supplies and 432 ready-to-eat meal boxes were delivered.  We also assisted in reconstructing the town's health center and promoting several civil service actions.
32 January 2010 Haiti disaster relief On 21st December 2011, Haiti experienced a magnitude 7.0 earthquake.

We initiated fundraising on 14th January 2010, raising NTD 157,401,574 in total, which were entirely devoted to emergency relief efforts for rebuilding New Hope Village in Haiti.

In August and December of 2011, we visited Haiti to assess reconstruction progress and contacted the local Red Cross and other charitable organizations, fostering exchanges.
31 May 2008 Wenchuan earthquake, China On 12th May, Chengdu’s Wenchuan County in Sichuan Province was hit by a magnitude 8 earthquake.  Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu were the worst-hit areas, totaling more than 45.5 million victims.  Fundraising began on 13th May and NTD 1,593,383,319 in cash was raised, plus accrued interest of NTD 29,722,646 by 31st December 2011, resulting in a total of NTD 1,623,091,320.

Emergency Relief Efforts:
1.  15th May:  Delivered 500 tents, 7,000 jackets, 200 family-sized first aid kits and other emergency rescue items by air.
2.  16th May:  Disaster relief teams deployed. Medical teams were sent in on May 20 to help rescue victims.
3.  19th November:  Donated 2,120 beds to the Tibetan and Qiang tribes within the hardest-hit Mao County.

Hardware Reconstruction:
Completed reconstruction of 43 schools, 43 health centers and 1 rehabilitation center in Sichuan, Gansu and Shaanxi. In detail:
1.  Sichuan’s Chengdu, Ya'an, Guangyuan, Deyang and Aba County: Assisted in constructing 11 schools, 9 health centers, and 1 rehabilitation center.
2.  Xihe County, Longnan City, Ganshu Province: Assisted in constructing 21 schools and 19 health centers.
3.  Mian County, Hanzhong City, Shaaxi Province: Assisted in constructing 11 schools and 15 health centers.
As of June 2011, a total of 87 projects had been completed.  More than 32,600 students and 1.5 million villagers will benefit from reconstruction efforts.

Software Reconstruction:
1.  Winter Plum Project:  Provides children living in affected areas with educational and maintenance grants through long-term subsidies.  Also works with the Chishan Social Welfare Foundation on the Sichuan Mao County Qiang Tribe's Scholastic Program.
2.  Community Reconstruction Plan:  Establish Community Reconstruction Centers or provide pediatric, women, medical and physical care services to affected communities through program grants.  This is a six-year plan scheduled for completion in 2014.  The Red Cross and the 512 Taiwan Sichuan Earthquake Service Alliance established Community Reconstruction Centers in four major reconstruction sites to provide child counseling, community development, health care and other services to the underprivileged.
3.  Underprivileged Care Plan:  Provide timely care for the underprivileged, specifically:
- Distributed 17,325 winter blankets to Sichuan's Mao County, Wen City, Ya'an City and the Xihe villagers of Gansu;
- Distributed 5,000 bags of flour to Gansu's Xihe Village;
- Provided 5 ambulances to remote areas in Sichuan’s Nanjiang County.
4.  Promote and strengthen disaster preparedness:  Promoting disaster education and community preparedness, constructing community preparedness disaster relief warehouses and regional multi-function disaster relief centers, improve relief material logistics management systems, increase training and support for disaster relief and reconstruction-related professionals.
30 May 2008 Myanmar cyclone disaster On 2nd – 3rd May 2008, Cyclone Nargis swept through central and southern Myanmar, resulting in close to 78,000 deaths, 56,000 missing people and hundreds affected by the disaster.

Fundraising began on May 7, 2008, raising NTD 57, 536,400, plus NTD 697,349 in interest accrued by 30th September 2011, amounting to a total of NTD 58,233,749.  The donation was made to the International Federation's Disaster Relief Efforts in collaboration with the Myanmar Red Cross to rebuild schools and health centers, construct temporary housing and to support disaster recovery and livelihood programs.
29 July 2007 Myanmar disaster relief Visited the Myanmar National Red Cross and the International Federation's Delegation to Myanmar to better understand the progress and results of the Myanmar Red Cross Disaster Preparedness and Organizational Development Project, to which our Society donated USD 1 million to via the South Asian tsunami donation fund.
28 December 2004 South Asia earthquake On 26th December, a magnitude 9.0 earthquake hit the South Asian region, followed by a tsunami, with an estimated of more than 300,000 dead or missing persons and millions displaced.

A total of NTD 782,365,752 was raised, and including accrued interest and excluding total expenditures, totaled NTD 675,932,393, which was used to support South Asian countries affected by the tsunami in their various reconstruction projects, namely: India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and the Maldives.

Surplus donation funds of NTD 16,433,359, with an accrued interest of NTD 22,727 by 3rd December 2011, resulted in a total of NTD 16,654,086.  Adhering to the principle of utilizing project funds for specified purposes and after conferring with the International Federation, we confirmed that the remaining funds would be used in full towards the implementation of the International Federation's new South Asian Tsunami project.
27 December 2003 Iran relief On 26th December, Bam City in southern Iran’s Kerman Province was struck by a 6.3-magnitude earthquake, causing serious casualties.

Donated 5,000 blankets, 5,000 jackets, 500 family-sized tents and collaborated with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies' global fundraising plan.  On 8th January 2004, we collected 10,000 jackets, 8,000 wool blankets, 3,000 wool knit hats, 3,600 pairs of wool socks and other warm clothing and supplies. We then shipped these supplies to Iran and distributed them to victims through the Iranian Red Crescent Society.

From December 2003 to February 2004, we launched the "Send Love to Iran" disaster relief fundraiser, raising a total of NTD 13,218,112.  After deducting related costs, such as the cost of relief supplies, we donated NTD 6,631,392 (roughly USD 198,800).  Donations were used to support the Federation in their implementation of the Iran Earthquake Reconstruction Plan.
26 August 2002 Afghanistan, Congo relief efforts Supported the International Federation in its fundraising efforts for Afghan crisis disaster relief operations and Congo disaster relief; donations raised were USD 3,900 and USD 238.5, respectively.
25 July 1999 Yangtze River floods, China Torrential rains hit the Yangtze River, affecting Sichuan, Hubei, Zhejiang and Anhui Provinces most severely.  Around 59.39 million were affected, with 480,000 houses collapsed and 167 damaged.

A total of 64,140 ration packets, 250 tents and 1,250 spray units were donated.
24 November 1998 Yunnan earthquake, China On 19th November, a number of major, consecutive earthquakes hit the Ninglang region in Yunnan, causing serious damages.  Numbers affected reached 130,000, with 22,800 houses damaged and 5,250 collapsed.

Joining forces with the government, we cooperatively donated NTD 3 million, purchased 3,000 blankets and 5,000 boxes of food rations.
23 March 1998 Yangtze River floods, China Eight provinces along the Yangtze River were stricken by flooding.

Monetary donations of NTD 20.30 million were used to purchase 2,500 spray units, 3,000 double-size beds, 10 ambulances, 756 metric tons of rice, 400,000 ration packs and an additional USD 20,000 was donated for the procurement of medicine.
22 January 1998 Hebei earthquake, China On 10th January, Hebei Province’s Zhangjiakou City was hit by a 6.2-magnitude earthquake, injuring 12,000 and destroying more than 100,000 houses.

NTD 4 million worth of donation funds was used for the procurement of medicine.  Another NTD 2 million was used to procure and distribute rice rations on 20th April.
21 June 1997 Guangdong flood in various provinces, China On 6th July, Guangdong and several other provinces were hit by floods caused by a typhoon, affecting more than 35 million.

20 June 1996 Central and southern China regional floods At the end of June, central and southern China suffered major floods due to heavy rains.

USD 100,000 was donated for the procurement of food and medical supplies and another 720 metric tons of rice was donated.
19 April 1996 Qinghai snowstorm, China Six counties in Qinghai’s Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Region had experienced 43 incidences of snowfall since November 1995.

18 April 1996 Inner Mongolia forest fires, China On 29th April, fires spread through the forests of New Barag Banner and Evenki Banner in Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia.

A disaster relief donation of USD 50,000 was used to purchase necessary tents, blankets and 1 ambulance.
17 February 1996 Yunnan earthquake, China On 3rd February, a magnitude 7 earthquake struck the Lijiang Region in Yunnan.

A donation of USD100,000 was made for the procurement of medicine and blankets; another NTD 30.5 million was donated for purchasing medicine and other relief supplies.
16 May 1995 Central and southern China torrential rains A joint donation of USD 200,000 was made with CARES.  Following further serious flooding in July, a donation of 990 metric tons of rice, medical supplies, 100,000 rations, 26,730 packs of instant noodles, 15,000 sets of long-sleeved cotton underwear, 5,100 pairs of jeans, 22,428 sets of clothing and 2,500 agricultural spray kits were delivered.
15 December 1994 Xinjiang fires, China On 13th December, Karamay City in Xinjiang suffered serious casualties from a major fire.

A donation of USD 50,000 was made.
14 September 1994 Typhoon Foret Typhoon Foret hit Zhejiang, China.

A donation of 200 metric tons of rice, 1,000 double -sized blankets, 10,000 pairs of cotton underwear and a shipment of medicine was made.
13 September 1993 Qinghai regional floods, China In September, a breach of the Qinghai reservoir caused severe damage.  

Donated a total of 500 metric tons of rice, 97,200 servings of food rations, 94 boxes of medical drugs, two kinds of pesticides, 800 spray units and an additional donation of NTD 896,570 was made.
12 June 1993 Central and southern China monsoon In June, monsoon rain caused major disasters.  A donation of 500 metric tons of food and clothing were given.
11 January 1993 Yunnan Pu'er earthquake, China After the earthquake, a donation of 18 metric tons of rice, 2,500 single and double-sized blankets, 3,000 jackets, 164 boxes of medical supplies and a donation of NT$430,00 million were made.
10 July 1992 Northern China drought; southern China floods USD 300,000 was donated on 17th July to alleviate adverse situations caused by drought in Northern China and floods in Southern China.
9 April 1992 Hunan, Jiangxi, Guangdong and Yunnan regional floods In April, disastrous torrential rains hit the Hunan, Jiangxi, Guangdong and Yunnan regions.

A donation of USD 200,000 was made in late April.
8 June 1991 Central China floods USD 200,000 and 10,000 metric tons of rice were donated.  From 1992 to 1994, more than NTD 890.01 million was donated towards the purchasing of relief supplies.
7 May 1991 Shanxi, Guangdong mine disasters, China Shanxi’s Sanjiao River coal mine and Guangdong’s Qingshuigang tin mine collapsed, killing hundreds of miners.

6 August 1990 Fujian and Zhejiang hurricanes, China From the end of August to early September, typhoons Yancy and Abe hit Fujian and Zhejiang and caused coastal disasters.

A donation of 122.5 metric tons of rice was made.
5 June 1990 Central China floods Floods hit central China in mid-June.  A donation of 175 metric tons of rice was made.
4 April 1990 Qinghai earthquake, China On 26th April, Southern Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Qinghai Province was struck by an earthquake.

A donation of NTD 1,408,228 (HKD 390,000) was made.
3 October 1989 Shanxi and Hebei regional earthquake, China On 18th October, an earthquake hit the border region of Shanxi and Hebei.

A series of donations totaling 105 metric tons of rice and 4,200 bags of flour (92.4 metric tons) were made.
2 July 1989 Central and southern China floods Torrential rain across Central, Southern and Northeast China caused disasters.

On 4th August, a donation of USD100,000 was made.  On 23rd August, a donation of 17,500 kg of rice was given.  This marks the first time disaster relief goods were donated to Mainland China.
1 November 1988 Yunnan earthquake, China On 6th November, an earthquake hit Lancang County in Yunnan.
