The 17th International Humanitarian Law Moot

Since 2009, the Taiwan Red Cross and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) have jointly organized the International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Moot in Taiwan. The competition serves as a platform for inter-university exchange and advocacy, while fostering greater understanding of International Humanitarian Law and connecting participants with the global IHL community.

  • Dates: 5–6 December 2026

  • Format: Memorial Submission & Oral Hearings

Important Dates
  • Registration Deadline: 3 September 2026 (Thursday)
  • Memorial Submission Deadline: 22 October 2026 (Thursday)

Team Composition & Eligibility
  • One team per institution.
  • Each team shall consist of two Mooters and may include up to two Researchers.
  • Participants must be enrolled in a law degree programme (including J.D.) or any university programme below doctoral level as of 1 September 2026.
  • Individuals who have held a law teaching position, been admitted to legal practice, or participated in the Competition twice are not eligible.
  • All participants must satisfy the eligibility requirements and complete the eligibility declaration upon registration.
  • Team members shall not be changed after registration. Any substitution of a Mooter requires prior approval of the Organizing Committee and may only be made from among the team's registered Researchers.
  • Team coaches may observe only the rounds in which their own team competes.
  • Meetings and discussions held during the Competition are open only to registered participants.

Accommodation & Transportation Support
  • To encourage broader participation and engagement with IHL, the Organizing Committee will provide accommodation and transportation subsidies for teams from institutions located outside Taipei City, New Taipei City, and Keelung City. For details on the subsidy arrangements, please contact the Organizing Committee.
    • Transportation reimbursement will be based on the Taiwan Railways Tze-Chiang Limited Express fare, with receipts required.
    • Subsidy eligibility will be based on the county/city of the participant’s campus. For universities with multiple campuses, the campus of the participant’s department shall prevail.
