The 16th International Humanitarian Law Moot

Since 2009, the Taiwan Red Cross, in partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), has co-hosted the International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Moot Court—a prestigious inter-university competition held in Taiwan. This year marks the 16th edition of the competition, which will take place from December 6 to 7 and will include the submission of written memorials and in-person oral hearings.

Registration is now closed

This year’s IHL Moot Court will be held in person at:
📍 The Red Cross Society of the Republic of China
No. 83, Section 2, Zhongzheng Road, Tamsui District, New Taipei City 25154, Taiwan


🚆 For teams traveling from outside Taipei, such as Hsinchu, accommodation and round-trip train fares will be provided.


🔒 To ensure the fairness of the competition, all discussion sessions will be limited to registered members of the participating teams.



Important Dates
(1) Registration deadline:5th September 2025
(2) Last day to submit memorials:  31st October 2025
(3) Competition:  6th to 7th December  2025

 
Eligibility
 
To register as a team member, an individual must be a registered student at a participating institution as of September 1, 2025. This includes students pursuing a first law degree, such as a Juris Doctor (JD), or any university degree below the doctoral level. Individuals are ineligible to participate if they:
 
  1. Hold or have held a full-time or part-time teaching position in law at any tertiary institution;
  2. Have been admitted or licensed to practice law in any jurisdiction;
  3. Have already participated twice in previous years, whether as a mooter or a researcher.
Participating students must make a declaration upon registration.
