Magnitude 7.8 Strong earthquake hits southern Turkey

A powerful earthquake rocked southern Turkey

  A powerful earthquake rocked southern Turkey. A number of buildings have collapsed, and some people may be trapped inside; and the aftershocks have sent residents into the streets across the region.Turkey lies in one of the world's most active earthquake zones.

  This earthquake was felt intensely in the surrounding provinces, especially in Kahramanmaras, Hatay, Osmaniye, Gaziantep, Sanliurfa, Diyarbakir, Malatya and Adana. Within the scope of the Turkey Disaster Response Plan, the level of the earthquake was declared as Level 4 by The Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD). It is estimated that 5.21 Million people, 1.23 Million households, and $77.6 Billion (USD) of infrastructure are concentrated within this radius. 
The cost represents the total replacement value of the infrastructure.
 
  To follow up the humanitarian relief work of the International Red Cross Movement and response to the appeal of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), donations will be used for ICRC, IFRC and National Red Cross Societies (NSs) to assist Earthquake in Turkey.
