Disaster Response Volunteer Team to Liyutan in Nantou for 24 Hours Non-Stop Training

Disaster relief team go through different simulated disaster response scenes

Taiwan is a disaster prone area where earthquakes and typhoons are frequently occur. In order to strengthen the capabilities of disaster response knowledge, commanding, and coordination. Taiwan Red Cross held disaster team re-training courses from 2nd to 4th December in Liyutan in Nantou.  
 
Disaster relief team with 1st in the north, 2nd in the middle,  3rd in the south of Taiwan, and subordinate teams of Hualien and Taidong, got together for the training, and were headed by the team leader of the 2nd team, Mr. Chang, Te-Chun, disaster relief team commander Mr. Wu, Wen-Shen, and the other instructors from Nantou County Fire Department. President and secretary general of Taiwan Red Cross, Ms. Wang, Ching-Feng and Mr. Kao, Ning-Po also visited the training to encourage the volunteers.
 
The first day of training started at 11:00 p.m. on Friday 2nd
 December. All of the volunteers were required to register at the command center, to accept physical examination, and tasks were assigned.
 
They needed to understand the basic processes of search and rescue, such as the organizational structure of Incident Command System, ICS, and then, they had to go through different simulated disaster response scenes such as Technical rope rescue, Structural collapse search and rescue, and so on. 
 
President Wang, Ching-Feng in her greeting speech hoped that everyone would practice the skill to become an excellent disaster relief volunteers.
 
The Red Cross disaster relief teams have been established for more than 20 years. Although they play a role of assisting the government in disaster relief, they still need to have disaster relief capabilities refreshened.
