Taiwan Red Cross (TRC) convened the National Convention of Member Delegates on April 22nd, 2016 to hold elections. New members of the Board of Directors and the Board of Supervisors were elected, as well as the TRC's Deputy Presidents and President. The incumbent President Ching-Feng Wang won the election again and remained in office, becoming the TRC's 21st President.
An already-familiar face in the field of charities and nonprofit organizations, President Wang has long dedicated her life to the works that assist Taiwanese women and children in need, proving herself as a righteous “super-volunteer.” Her volunteer involvement includes: offering long-term assistance to domestic violence victims, abused children, underage prostitutes and comfort women, aiding disadvantaged groups in obtaining medical care, legal assistance and financial support and actively pushing for reforms in women and child policies and relevant laws. She made every effort to wipe out women's tears, comfort children's cries and mend grannies' scars.
During President Wang's previous term of office at the TRC, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement further took root in Taiwan, the International Humanitarian Law has domesticized, several domestic and international relief works were carried out and transparency of the disclosures made in the TRC's financial statements was ensured. In this term, President Wang prepares to focus on strengthening the connection and cooperation between the TRC's Headquarters and each Branch on the basis of the existing foundation and carrying forward the TRC's spirits of “Humanity, Fraternity and Voluntary Service.”
