Taiwan Red Cross supports the disadvantaged in times of hardship
Date : 2021/06/09
Taiwan Red Cross delivers food parcels to 20 offices of community leaders in Wanhua District, Taipei City

The outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic starting in mid-May hit vulnerable populations the most.  In Wanhua District, Taipei City, more than 1,400 confirmed cases have been recorded.  A large number of households living in this area is low-income or disadvantaged.  Many families have been calling for help.  In response to their needs, Taiwan Red Cross prepared 800 sets of food parcel with 75% tea tree oil alcohol spray and medical face masks for vulnerable households in local communities, which have been delivered to 20 offices of community leaders across Wanhua.

In order to prevent the spread of the pandemic, many food booths, karaoke stores, tea shops, and other small businesses in Wanhua have been temporarily closed, leaving the already vulnerable communities even more vulnerable.  Wishing to make sure everyone is safe and no one is left hungry during this COVID-19 crisis, Taiwan Red Cross prepares 2 boxes of soda cracker, 1 bag of noodle, 1 bag of strawberry jam bread, 1 bag of cheder corn soup, 2 cans of tomato mackerel, 6 Tetra Pak long-life milk, plus 10 medical face masks and 1 bottle of 75% tea tree oil alcohol spray in each food parcel.

Wanhua is home to 36 communities, and each community leader has been working around the clock since the beginning of this outbreak.  With the Headquarters situating in Wanhua, Taiwan Red Cross is duty-bound to lend a helping hand to those in need during this difficult time.

We are in this together; we will overcome it together.
